China’s June CPI stays flat, PPI drops 5.4% YoY
China’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood unchanged on year but dropped 0.2% on month in June, while the country’s Producer Price Index (PPI) posted a faster on-year drop of 5.4% and lost 0.8% on month, according to the latest data released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on July 10th.
China’s manufacturing PMI edges up to 49 in June
For June, China’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for the domestic manufacturing industry recovered by a minuscule 0.2 index point on month to 49, though it had stayed below the threshold of 50 connoting contraction for the third month, according to the latest release by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 30.
China industrial firms’ Jan-May profits tumble 19%
China’s sizable industrial firms saw their gross profits decline by 18.8% on year to Yuan 2.67 trillion ($369 billion) in the first five months of this year, according to the latest release by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 28. Nevertheless, the pace of decline was slower by 1.8 percentage points than that during the prior four months, the NBS data showed.
