CGES keur netwerkverbinding goed vir 240 MW sonkrag-PV-aanleg gerugsteun deur Europese energie

  • CGES has approved grid connection request for a 240 MW solar power plant
  • It cites European Energy as the investor of the facility to be built by EE Korita
  • The project is expected to cost $200 million and will be located at Korita

The state transmission operator CGES in Montenegro has signed a grid connection agreement for a 240 MW solar power plant proposed by EE Korita. Denmark based renewable energy company European Energy is investing in the project.

The project is expected to cost $200 million and will come up at Korita, near the country’s border with Serbia. CGES said this agreement will strengthen the country’s renewable energy production capacity while also expanding its sustainable energy network.

CGES has announced this agreement following a network connection approval in September 2023 for a 170 MW solar power plant to come up in the Cetinje municipality in Velestovo region. This project is targeted to come online in 2027.

Previously, the operator had approved grid connection requests for 2 solar power plants with a combined capacity of 615 MW (sien Europa PV Nuusbrokkies).

This shows that  CGES has cleared grid connection requests for over 1 GW of solar PV capacity from August 2023 to date.
