This rumor, reportedly confirmed by a “high-ranking Samsung Electronics official,” has also surfaced in earlier leaks.
Galaxy Z Flip7 Coming with the Exynos 2500 SoC
The Samsung Exynos 2500 will be manufactured using Samsung’s second-generation SF3 3nm process. It’s said to have a 10-core CPU, including a 3.3 GHz prime core, two big cores at 2.75 GHz, five big cores at 2.36 GHz, and two efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz. The chipset is also expected to include the Xclipse 950 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA architecture, positioning it as Samsung’s top-tier in-house processor.
According to the latest information, mass production of the Exynos 2500 will begin in early 2025. Samsung is targeting a production total of 229.4 million smartphones that year. Of these, the Z Fold7 is expected to account for 3 million units, while the rumored Z Flip FE may contribute around 900,000 units.
The report mentions the fact that foldable smartphones are a field of Qualcomm’s domain. The US chipmaker monopolized the chipset market when it comes to foldable smartphones. We don’t see foldable devices powered by MediaTek or Samsung chips. This will change soon as Samsung is reportedly leaving this long tradition. The fact is that the Korean brand is always trying to reduce its reliance on Qualcomm chipsets. However, there is still a solid preference for Galaxy flagships using these chips.
